Some things start simply.

A visit to a showroom. A question about a gift. A conversation that moves, almost without noticing, from jewelry to art.

That's how we met Megan Carty — though in another sense, we'd known her family for years.

Generations in the Making

Megan's connection to Day's didn't begin in 2019. It began with her grandparents, then her parents, then a childhood charm bracelet she still has — full of charms from Day's. Her mother's jewelry, much of it from our stores, is now hers to keep.

"I have inherited my Mom's jewelry and most of it has come from Day's," she says. That kind of continuity is quiet and real. It doesn't need explaining.

When Megan moved away from Maine, she found her way to our Nashua showroom. The faces changed, but something familiar remained. "The people at Day's are what make it so great," she says. "They start to feel like family over time."

What Grew from There

It was during one of those Nashua visits, in 2021, that store manager Eric learned Megan was also an artist. That detail changed the direction of things.

Her work made its way into the store not long after — bold, considered, full of color. "Paintings are jewelry for your walls," Megan says. "They are meant to be gazed upon and enjoyed every day and handed down through generations."

The parallel isn't accidental. Megan's canvases draw from the landscapes of Acadia National Park — the forests, tide pools, sparkling waters, and shifting Maine light she grew up with. "I can't help but draw parallels between the colors there and the gemstones in all the jewelry," she says. "I see the forests, the skies, and the sparkling waters in all the Day's display cases."

Megan has an eye shaped by color, texture, and the kind of beauty that stays with you. We asked her to choose a few pieces from our collection that speak to her — the ones that caught her attention the way a landscape does.

Being from Maine, tourmaline has always been a favorite! The colors remind me of the ocean as a storm moves away. There’s something so soothing and peaceful about the soft shade of green.
The wrap-style of the ring design adds the unique flair I love to see in jewelry. It becomes a conversation piece and shows a bit about my laid back personality.

Paperclip Bangle Bracelet in 14kt Yellow Gold

I love a bangle bracelet and this one looks so classic yet interesting with the paperclip pattern. I love anything with graphic visual interest.

I love a hoop earring because it can make you look more pulled together without really doing anything extra. And the design of this pair really stands out!

An Evening Worth Showing Up For

Displaying Megan's work was only the beginning. What followed were paint nights — evenings hosted in the store that became something people looked forward to. They fill quickly.

"Teaching fun paint nights with Day's has been a great way to connect with like-minded people in the community who love color, sparkle, and a night out," Megan says.

Guests arrive, make something with their hands, and leave having spent time in a way that felt worthwhile. That's what a real partnership does. It doesn't just add something to the walls. It adds something to the room.

From Customer to Collaborator

Megan's journey with Day's has moved in a direction neither of us planned for. Customer. Artist. Collaborator. Most recently, the subject of a feature in Down East Magazine — a recognition that feels fitting for someone whose work has quietly shaped how our Nashua store feels.

We're featuring Megan in our latest campaign because her story reflects something we think about often: the most meaningful things tend to begin with genuine curiosity, not a transaction.

Jewelry and art aren't so different in that way. Both start with intention. Both become something you carry — or hang, or pass down — for years.
