December 06, 2019Considering a romantic holiday proposal this winter? A colored gemstone engagement ring may be a great option for someone looking for something different, and these stones often make affordable alternatives to diamonds. Day's can help you create the ring of your dreams by combining a mounting with a loose colored gemstone of your choice, or select a finished ring from our in-house collection. Keep a few things in mind when you're shopping for a colored gemstone engagement ring: The “wear-ability” of the stone is crucial. Center stones that are recommended as engagement rings should have a hardness of 7.5 or higher on the Mohs scale. This includes: Sapphires or rubies. Corundum has a hardness of 9.0 and is the hardest of all colored gemstones. Sapphires are a great option as they come in a variety of colors, including blues (in various hues), blue/green, pink, purple, green, yellow, and peach/orange. ...Read more »This entry was posted in: engagement rings , wedding planning , wedding ideas , winter wedding , wedding , gemstones , sapphires , rubies , information about , gemstone information , gemstone facts , Day's Jewelers , maine jewelers , 2020 trends , engagement ring trends

July 13, 2016Day's Jewelers Proposal Story: Hi my name is Michelle Devereux. My fianc Ryan Sylvain proposed to me on June the 9, 2016 at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. We have been together 2 and half years. I recently brought Ryan to Ireland for my cousins wedding. I moved to the USA with my parents when I was 7 but both my mother and father reside in Ireland. We traveled around Ireland for a few days with my brother and a couple of friends. Ryan carried the ring around with him while we were traveling and a few times he thought I was sure I would find out. ...Read more »This entry was posted in: engagement rings , wedding , diamond , Day's Jewelers , maine jewelers , forevermark diamonds , forevermark , how to propose , engagement ideas , bride , best of weddings , womens wedding rings , real maine weddings , diamonds online , buying a diamond , how to pick the perfect wedding ring , wedding rings , diamond rings , engagement ring , love , womens wedding bands , diamonds , proposal ideas , Maine jeweler , diamond ring , jewelry store , engagement , diamond engagement rings , bridal jewelry , wedding jewelry , diamond jewelry , online jeweler , win diamond , contest , jewelers online , days best wedding , jewelers maine , bridal accessories , days best weddings , maine best weddings

October 23, 2014Hi everyone, I have been so excited to write today's blog. I will be sharing with you one of my very favorite parts about planning our weddingcan you guess what it is? If you guessed FOOD, you're right! After traveling to the Marshall Islands to teach English as a second language, I came back to the states with a keen interest in healthy, nutritious, and delicious food. I changed up my eating habits and started studying nutrition as a hobby; a hobby that Todd and I enjoy together. We knew that we wanted our wedding to reflect our taste in food and made it a mission to find the perfect caterer. Once again, thanks to the internet we were able to pinpoint some of Maine's most popular local foods caterers. Maine is such an amazing place to get married, especially ...Read more »

October 09, 2014Hello lovelies, In my last blog, I talked about the experience of wedding dress shopping and picking out your perfect gown. I wanted to continue on the subject of clothing because I did not even begin to talk about everyone else's attires. I've come to figure out that choosing my dress was the easy part (for me, anyway)! Generally, I stick with a very neutral color palette with my wardrobe. With the exception of a few bold pieces, you will find a lot of brown, white, black, and blue in my closet. So, (of course) I had originally envisioned having primarily neutral shades as our wedding colors: soft gray, champagne, peach, and nude with a few bolder accent colors. When I asked my bridesmaids to be a part of my special day, I also asked them to be on the lookout for long gray dresses. Being the supportive ...Read more »

September 24, 2014Hi again! If you are anything like me, one of the most exciting parts about being a new bride is finding the perfect dress! You have watched countless episodes of "Say Yes to the Dress" and you have gawked at all of the beautiful brides that are in magazines and in the movies. Now it is your turn! My words of wisdom while wedding dress shopping: Choose your entourage wisely. Whether you fall in love with the first dress you try on or the 50th, the decision should be yours. The more people you bring with you, the more opinions you have to juggle. I value the opinion of my wedding party and wanted to make sure that I got their stamp of approval, but it can get overwhelming if you find yourself trying to please everyone else before pleasing yourself. Know ...Read more »
