  1. Picking Out Your Perfect Wedding Gown

Hi again! If you are anything like me, one of the most exciting parts about being a new bride is finding the perfect dress! You have watched countless episodes of "Say Yes to the Dress" and you have gawked at all of the beautiful brides that are in magazines and in the movies. Now it is your turn! My words of wisdom while wedding dress shopping: Choose your entourage wisely. Whether you fall in love with the first dress you try on or the 50th, the decision should be yours. The more people you bring with you, the more opinions you have to juggle. I value the opinion of my wedding party and wanted to make sure that I got their stamp of approval, but it can get overwhelming if you find yourself trying to please everyone else before pleasing yourself. Know ...

  2. Wedding Details and Organization

Hello lovelies, A few of my dear friends have gotten married this summer and it was so much fun sharing in their celebrations of love. As a bride planning her own day, I found myself jotting down details that I thought worked really well and suggestions they had for things that did not work out quite as well. I can honestly say that I have an entirely different outlook on weddings now than I did before! I'm looking at the details on the centerpieces, noticing the different textures in the bouquets, and noting the thoughtfulness behind the dessert choices. Every little detail was intentional and to me, that is beautiful. I have found that you can tell a lot about the couple by paying attention to the details of their wedding day. Before now, I had never considered myself ...

  3. Is a Winter Wonderland Wedding Right for You?

Hi lovelies! One of the first decisions a newly engaged couple must make is when the wedding will take place. Because Todd proposed in December, we realized that we had three options: rush our planning and get married in the summer of 2014, plan for a year and have a winter wedding, or wait a year and a half for a summer wedding in 2015. Of course, all of these options ultimately led us to being a happily married couple (eek!), but we did not want to wait 18 months and our dream venue was already completely booked for the upcoming summer. So, we began researching winter weddings and have never looked back. Before we made the decision to book a date in February, I could have never imagined the amount of strange looks we would receive for straying from a traditional summer wedding. So, I have put together a list of all of the reasons we give our skeptics in hopes that they may assist you in deciding if a winter wedding is right for you:   ...

  4. Ed Levin Jewelry Trunk Shows!

Since our company will be hosting Ed Levin trunk shows in August of this year we felt that it would be a great idea to explain the story behind the collection. Ed Levin is beautifully designed, hand-crafted jewelry. One of the most appealing traits about Ed Levin Jewelry is all materials and pieces are made right here in the United States of America. Ed Levin studied and learned his craft while in Argentina, in 1950. Ed Levin brought his skill and artistic vision back to the United States and started his company Ed Levin Jewelry. All of his jewelry is made in Sterling Silver or 14k gold. He works with the best precious stones such ...

  5. Denny Wong: The Marine Biologist of Jewelry

It has been an exciting week at Day's Jewelers as we welcome a little piece of tropical heaven to the family with the addition of The Denny Wong Collection. I spoke with the Award-Winning designer earlier this week about his design process and what makes his pieces so unique. Denny Wong spent his childhood years in Hong Kong. In the mid 1970's his family moved to Hawaii where his father had friends and connections. This is where Denny discovered a passion for island life and where all of its tropical elements began to work their magic on him. It is also where he would find the perfect outlet for the creativity that Hawaiian life had inspired. As a high school student Denny left Hawaii to study abroad ...

  6. Top 5 Moments to Savor on Your Wedding Day

Kevin and I became "Mr. and Mrs." nearly two weeks ago already! I know it sounds clich but the day truly does fly by. Whether you have a small, intimate gathering or a large affair there are moments that you and your new spouse should savor. These are moments that I hold close to my heart and memories that will last well into our wrinkled years. 1) Taste your hard work. I know that sounds a little silly, but sit down and eat the meal that you helped design. Sharing a meal with my new husband surrounded by all of our family and friends was incredible. We were able to really taste the perfectly prepared meal right as it came out of the kitchen. Having this moment together to really savor our first meal together was so delicious and special. Blue Elephant Catering provided us with a meal that our ...

  9. Style File: JCK Vegas, Rebecca Bonney

Rebecca Bonney, Assistant Store Manager Day's Jewelers, Auburn The jewelry show in Vegas was amazing! Walking onto the show floor was jaw dropping and breathtaking all at the same time. There were so many things to see and so many new jewelry trends coming out that I will narrow it down to the things that really "wowed" me. Ritani is working on a program that allows the customer to custom design a ring and then see what it will look like before they purchase it. It allows the customer to have a better idea of what their vision will actually look like. When you select a ring, the image is uploaded onto the iPads we have in store. The customer can then change the metal color, finger ...

  10. Style File: Diamond Earrings and Birkenstocks

Here in New England we're no stranger to the Birkenstock sandal. My grandmother has been rocking this trend for as long as I can remember; and this year I am happy to say Grandma's got style! It's true, the Birkenstock inspired sandal is making a major comeback for Summer 2014. I first noticed this when I went to Venice beach for a day. I saw a woman wearing a pair ...
