June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, and as part of this month of recognition, a fundraising event happens every year on June 21. The Longest Day, an event signifying the care and patience that is required of cherished Alzheimer’s caretakers, occurs on the literal longest day of the year, the summer solstice. The number of fundraising events that will occur on June 21 vary; participants are encouraged to be creative in their events and meet the biggest goal possible. From the Longest Day’s website: “The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. On June 21, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice.
