After20 years in the jewelry industry, one thing has never changed: The confusion consumers have when it comes to warranty coverage. It is reallyno surprise, however, as each jeweler decides what they will warranty on theirown. Multiple jewelers equal many different warranties. Yet,despite this, there are some common items that appear in virtually allwarranties.
1. They require the jewelry be inspected.Virtuallyall jewelry warranties require the guest to return with the jewelry eitherannually or semi-annually so the item can be inspected for security of thegems, claps, ear nuts and the overall wear condition of the piece. Most (but not all) jewelers will tighten any loose stones or make minoradjustments to the jewelry at this time at no charge to you. Skipping theinspection generally voids

Day in the Life of Our Waterville Goldsmith:
Often on time but some days the devil gets to her. Her arrival brings about a flurry of excitement and anticipation. The hardest working employee we have: she never stops, rarely takes a break (except for a quick drive to the drive thru for coffee leaving a trail of dust in her wake). She moves from job to job never losing track of each project. Perfection is her middle name and talk about taking pride in her work well you never seen anyone better. Her day is often filled with interruption for the sales staff to the service staff
The word heirloom is defined as, "a valuable object that has belonged to a family for several generations". What makes a piece of jewelry an heirloom? Value, quality and beauty are all important factors. For me, it's the stories behind the piece. There are stories of love, dreams, accomplishments, and sometimes even loss.
Jane is one of the very first guests I ever worked with at Day's. Over the past year she has become a very close friend. Jane is a single woman, no children, and she contends with some pretty serious health issues. She started buying jewelry to lift her spirits! It all began with a
If you didn't know already, I'm in Aruba. The advantages of the internet! However, even though I'm away I still need to get you your Style File for the week. So, why not talk about what to bring on vacation - jewelry edition.
I am a terrible packer. I pack way too much ALL the time. However, when it comes to packing jewelry, I've got that down to a science. While we would all love to just bring our jewelry boxes with us on vacation, we can't - ok, you can, I just don't think it's a good idea. We also debate bringing items because they are the more expensive pieces and we fear losing them. So what is a girl to do?
Here are my 3 jewelry vacation tips:
1. Wear or Carry
If you want to bring one or two of your more expensive jewelry items, put them on or put them in your carry on. Be sure they will
The other day, I had a couple come in and ask about platinum. As it turns out, they had purchased a platinum ring from another jeweler and were very unhappy with the ring. They told me they thought it would not scratch, bend or dull like gold because it was a harder metal. I examined the ring and found it to be in excellent condition, however she had bent a prong on the center diamond and it was indeed dull. I explained I could straighten the prong and return the polish to it. She thought she should not have to do anything like that to a platinum ring, this is not true.
Here are 4 facts about platinum
This style file is going to be quick and simple today...the title says it all "scarves and jewelry - oh, my!"
For those that know me I am a scarf-aholic. Honestly, I have an addiction that might cause me to go to meetings soon. Let's put it this way, one of my bucket list items is to own 200 scarves, yes that's a real goal (currently I have about 40, clearly more than enough, but a girl has to collect something!).
So, the fun thing about scarves is that you can dress up or down any outfit with them. You can have so much fun with scarves: add color, add patterns, add it for a new look to an old outfit. Well, like scarves, jewelry is an accessory to add color, patterns or freshen up a new look! Ahyou didn't think about it that way did you? No one said
There are so many things that couples have to think about and plan when it comes to their special day. There is everything from the dress down to what the place settings are going to look like. One thing that is often left to be dealt with later is the rings. Couples wait till they are about a month away from their weddings to go shopping for their rings. This can be dangerous in many cases.
When shopping for a man's wedding band:
Most of the time the man's ring is the easiest one to get. Most men just want a ring that fits well and looks nice. Most don't care about the metal or if it has diamonds. This isn't to say that there aren't men that do care about these aspects, but the real thing to consider is that they are not trying to find a ring that fits well with another ring, like women are.
