An unusual but ever-growing popular type of fashionable tourmaline is Watermelon Tourmaline, which is pink on one end or on the inside/ outside and green on the other. Tourmaline often can be found in fine-grained granite and because of this, it is Maine’s gemstone. One of Tourmaline’s unique properties is that it can be electric and act like a magnet to small particles when under hot spotlights. Ranked 7-7.5 out of 10 on the Mohs scale (used to determine gem hardness); Tourmaline is an acceptable stone to wear everyday. Occasionally, to make stones deep red or bring out a darker color, Tourmaline will be heat treated or safely irradiated to cause a permanent color change. Tourmaline Care and Necklace SizingTourmaline Care:
Tourmaline has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale and is durable and suitable for everyday wear. Rubellites and Pariba tourmalines should not be cleaned ultrasonically.
Clean tourmaline jewelry with Day's Jewelry Cleaner or with mild dish soap in warm water: Use a toothbrush to scrub behind the stone where dust, dirt and soap film may collect.

Necklaces and chains come in many lengths. The drawings below indicate standard chain lengths and illustrate how they look on the neck of an average size woman and man. Chains can be shortened to create a non-standard length.
The width of a chain is generally indicated in millimeters. The chart below offers a comparison of centimeters to inches. One centimeter is equal to 10 millimeters.

Jewelry WarrantyJewelry Warranty
Day's Jewelers offers a lifetime warrantee against defects in materials and workmanship on any piece of jewelry purchased from us. We will also replace any stones, free of charge, in case of loss from the mounting, provided the jewelry was inspected by Day's Jewelers within six months of the loss. This warrantee does not cover excessive abuse or normal wear.
Day's will professionally clean and inspect you jewelry at no charge any time. For warrantee purposes, these inspections must be verified on the Fine Jewelry Documentation of Purchase by a Day's Jewelers associate. If you have moved to another area, and are unable to bring it to a Day's Jewelers store, please contact us, and we will find a reputable jeweler in your area who will inspect it for you free of charge.
Loss or damage is not covered resulting from abuse, normal wear, mysterious disappearance or repair, sizing or any other work done on your jewelry other than by Day's Jewelers or another jewelry company that we have specifically authorized. Day's Jewelers will repair or replace your setting at our option, if it is defective in materials or craftsmanship, provided the semiannual inspections have been performed.
How to Obtain Warranty Services:
If your jewelry requires any service, simply return it together with your Fine Jewelry Documentation of Purchase to any Day's store. You can also mail the item back to us for warranty service.
